Sustainability policy
We use film as a tool to better understand the world and each other. Every year, we screen titles that highlight sustainability, engagement in environmental matters, and the challenges lying ahead. As a film festival, we work continuously to reduce our climate footprint and to work as sustainably as we can.
Food and recycling
At all festival locations, the possibility of waste sorting and recycling is available.
Travel and accommodations
As a national and international meeting place, travel is our biggest challenge. We suggest primarily traveling to PLAY by train for national and international guests. When this option is not possible for our international guests, we choose flight departures with the least emissions and try to combine them with trains if possible. Transport to and from airports is done by train or carpooling.
We encourage everyone who travels and visits PLAY to choose a sustainable alternative, if they can, above all, public transportation and fossil-free transportation. The same policy applies to our trips to other festivals.
Festival material & printed matter
Our program magazine is printed by the printing company Åtta45, which is both Svanen-certified* and climate compensates all printed material via Southpole**. We have reduced the printed edition of our festival programme and focused on a more selective distribution – a distribution done with electric cargo bikes in Malmö.
We actively work to minimize the number of printed items and produce only those we can reuse for several years.
